Anyone who helped win World War II, either a military veteran or an American on the home front, is eligible to enter their name or someone else’s name for the World War II Registry of Remembrances, which will be accessible on site at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. Registration is free. Go to www.wwiimemorial.com and click on WWII Registry to register online. The address for information on how to enter a name by mail is WWII Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Girl to be Pilot for a Day
Nine-year-old Darian Hammond of Youngstown will become the 30th honorary Air Force Reserve second lieutenant and Pilot for a Day at the 910th Airlift Wing on Tuesday. She will visit the base for a tour and briefings, and will receive a genuine aircrew flight suit and other mementos, and be taxied aboard a C-130 Hercules aircraft. Darian is receiving treatment for leukemia at Akron Children’s Hospital at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Junior Sailor of Quarter
Electricians Mate Fireman Daniel Boseman, of Austintown, is Junior Sailor of the Quarter for the E-Division’s battery and lighting shop aboard the USS George Washington, stationed at Norfolk, Va. Boseman, who is working on his enlisted surface worker specialist qualification pin, lived in Greenpoint Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Austintown. A 2005 graduate of Austintown Fitch, he is the son of Genevieve Davis of Cortland and Dennis Boseman Youngstown, and grandson of Julie Burke of Austintown. He is married to the former Lauren Nickoliatis.
